Scott Carroll (Artistic Director, President)

SCOTT CARROLL is honored to live and work in Leadville, Colorado where he currently serves as the Principal of Lake County High School and the Artistic Director/Co-Founder of Lyric Theatre of Leadville. In both roles, Scott is driven by a belief in people, in their capacity to grow, create, and contribute to something larger than themselves. Whether it is in a classroom or a rehearsal room, he works to build communities rooted in high expectations, meaningful relationships and a shared purpose.

As a director or assistant director, Mr. Carroll has worked throughout the United States. Some notable companies include Eugene Opera, Mill City Summer Opera, Cascadia Concert Opera, Opera Bend, University of Oregon Opera Ensemble, Lake County Civic Center Association, and the Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation. Credits include Giulio Cesare, Acis y Galetea, El Gato con Botas, La Traviata, Die Fledermaus, The Old Maid and the Thief, Trouble in Tahiti, The Sound of Music, La Fanciulla del West, Seussical, La Fille du Regiment, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Sweeney Todd, Little Shop of Horrors, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Lend Me a Tenor, Annie, Into the Woods, The Fantasticks, The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Shrek the Musical.

Originally from Bend, Oregon, Mr. Carroll holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Oregon and a certificate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Oregon. A proud educator, director, and community member, Scott remains dedicated to the idea that schools and stages alike can be places where people connect, take risks, and discover what they’re capable of.
